Two-Piece Flapper Dress

This
romantic two piece lace dress, purchased from a New Hampshire estate, dates from the
1920’s and comes with a wonderful provenance: “1920’s lace dress…for
Captain’s Table events.” The dress has a rose-toned brown slip with spaghetti
straps sewn in at the shoulders. The sleeveless flapper style dress of cream
and brown lace ends in tiers of ruffles, which form an asymmetrical hem. The
back ruffle at its longest is 7” longer than the front. A beautiful pin of
interlocking rhinestone rings with two gold triangles at top and bottom
centers above the ruffles at hip level. The dress comes with a matching cream
and brown lace jacket, perfect for cool evenings on deck. The dress “moves”
beautifully, and would be perfect for dancing. After a game of shuffle board,
wheel barrow races, a lifeboat drill and a walk about the engine room, you
are ready to dress for dinner at the Captain’s Table at quarter past seven
sharp. All you have to do now is wait on deck for the steward to sound the
dinner bugle.
